Diagnosis of occult bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract can be difficult. Two approaches for the diagnosis of obscure bleeding are capsule endoscopy and single-balloon enteroscopy (SBE). Capsule Endoscopy is uniquely designed to visualize the small bowel in its entirety, thus allowing for the diagnosis and observation of small bowel lesions and disease states. The Olympus Single Balloon Enteroscope System is designed to allow access to the entire small bowel via an anterograde or retrograde approach for effective screening, diagnosis, or treatment.
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is an effective technique for diagnosing and treating problems in the liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. The Olympus TJF-Q180V duodenovideoscope, designed exclusively for ERCP procedures and compatible with the new EVIS EXERA III imaging platform, features a dual guidewire locking mechanism that works with the dedicated Olympus V-System endoscopic devices for increased ERCP efficiency.
